"“He didn’t know many people so you’d think he’d be a little shy. But he was loud, obnoxious and slamming beers from the get-go"
This part is disturbing as well "
Phelps is represented by marketing giant Octagon, which works with huge brands such as Mastercard and HSBC. They admitted proven cannabis use would be “a major taint” on Phelps’ character.
Spokesman Clifford Bloxham offered us an extraordinary deal not to publish our story, saying Phelps would become our columnist for three years, host events and get his sponsors to advertise with us."I am not a fan of the Olympic dream...it makes monsters out of youth, who can't be normal. I admire the hard work...but would rather kids were kids with a well rounded life.
I hope that there is some repercussions. We keep glorifying bad behavior.

First of all, step off, anyone can make a mistake. Second I bet that your no better than him. Michael Phelps is not an ass,you are, your just hating the fact that these hard working Olympians can do things most people can't do (including you). I bet you cant even swim a quarter of what Michael swims. The Olympic dream does not make monsters out of youths, look at Shawn Johnson, she's an Olympic champ and she isn't a monster. And their lives are well rounded and the only difference between us and them is that they have to train like almost every day. unlike you, I am a fan of the Olympic dream and I admire the hard work those champs put into winning Our Country gold medals. If you don't like it, that's your problem, but don't go talking about Michael Phelps if your no better, which your not because no one in life is perfect. we all make the same mistakes once or twice in our lives.
So the next time you have nothing better to do, Minerva, I suggest you get a life and stop trying to ruin others.
I'm glad my commentary effected you so much that you needed to register as a blogger to comment lol.
I am saddened by role models that are PAID HUGE sums to be held to a higher standard-he failed in that. He's an immense athlete-as are those football players that get in trouble with booze, whores, and car crashes...I despise the behavior...
I really enjoy some crazy artists' work...doesn't mean I can't still mock their right-brained nuttiness...it certainly doesn't make their artistic ability go away.
I DO think it's wrong to have youth devote so much of their lives to a sport, art, pageants, video games etc...
There's a young lady I know that devotes all of her free time to dance---she's an adequate dancer and is going to continue on after HS in it...GREAT but she can never attend an event, stay over a friend's, go along to an outing (concert, play, museum, or even a movie) because of her schedule. It's sad and I feel the same way about that as I do as Olympic athlete's life.
I DO admire the sporting aspect-but do (as a Mother) think those kids deserve a life that includes everything.
I am not perfect-I eat too much, the wrong stuff, I don't go to church enough, I can see that my dog's need brushing, there are 5 dishes in the sink that I should have washed last night since I think I read it's cheaper to do at night lol), I LOVE COKE (the beverage haha), I should be painting the LR right now instead of reading world news, BUT I am not held to a higher standard-I am a MOM/WIFE and good citizen...I am not being paid to represent companies or a country. My mistakes are private haha.
I surely don't think my few sentence post in the far off reaches of the US/Canadian border are going to ruin a youth's life that STILL has way more opportunity and ready cash than I ever had lol.
My influence in this web-world is minute-but thanks for the reminder that I am INFLUENTIAL at all times and I will think an extra second before I am tempted to flip off or out on the texting, twittering, newspaper reading, taco eating boob next to me on the expressway at 70+++ miles per hour and complain about Mr Blue Chevy Tahoe on 696 near Mound.
I am positive that I am NOT that important in the world-wide stage lol.
